Rain in Ohio
Going to be soggy going for most of the day until we get on the east side of the mountains in West Virginia. Looks like Isaac has made an appearance in Hillsboro, Ohio.
After a rainy start of about 100 miles the rain moved to the northeast and we broke out of it. Highway 50 provided all the curves, switchbacks, hills and twisties we could handle. Along the way we stopped for lunch at P&L Hot Dog Diner for lunch and were treated to a trip down memory lane. Lot's of good memorabilia from the hey days of roadside diners and all the appropriate tunes from the 50's playing on the juke box. Food was good, service was great and it was a fun place to go to.
Then it was back on the bikes for another 180-200 miles to Winchester. We had more of the same but without the rain. It is a great highway to ride if you like to go up and down mountains, shift gears often, cautious brake in the switchbacks and just enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of riding through the Appalachian Mountains on a rainy day. Somehow we managed to stay dry and upright and arrived at our hotel in Winchester, VA tired but ready for more adventures tomorrow. We treated ourselves to a steak dinner at the Texas Steakhouse and now we're relaxing and will hit the sack early. And if my wife, Pat, is reading this; "yes I ate my broccoli".
