BikeAlt 01and 02

Switched out my Vietnam Veteran Plate holder to this one showing my service on USS Skipjack SSN 585 and as a Submarine Veteran.  Seems appropriate for this trip to our annual convention.   Later today I'll be loading up my "Tommy Cox" C.D.'s to entertain us on the road.

Added a set of "fairing bags" so that I won't keep losing my glasses and sunglasses
It's also a handy place to put my EZPass for when we hit the toll roads

Minor Victory!

Minor victory today during trip prep. Fred and I are going to meet the 2012 Motorcycle Cannonball Run in Sandusky, Ohio on our return trip. Over 150 riders are traveling from Newburgh, N.Y. to San Francisco, Ca. on pre-1930 motorcycles! Trouble was nobody (but maybe the participants themselves) knew where the host hotel was in Sandusky. Called the local Chamber of Commerce, City Hall, and the local Harley dealer. Seems I knew more about it then they did! Well I finally hit on the correct sequence of Google search terms and ran across somebody posting the same question I had, and the answer! Couple of searches later, a quick 1-800 phone call, and we are booked in the Best Western Suites right across the street from the Cannonball HQ! Will post many pictures I'm sure! Stay tuned!

Finalizing the route over breakfast

Phil Novack and Doc Gardner finalize the ride plans to Norfolk, VA over breakfast.  We've been planning to go to the USSVI Convention for about 9 months and with one week left before we depart it's time to finalize our route to and from Norfolk.  Over breakfast is a traditional way that bikers and boat sailors accomplish anything.

Phil and I are members of Escolar Base USSVI and SSMC - USSVI. We ride Harley's and enjoy each others company. What better way to enjoy both of our interests than to ride to our annual convention on the bikes along with a number of other members of our close knit fraternityin SSMC.

Phil thinks it's by the ocean.

I'm guessing it's probably somewhere east of Ohio and all those other places on the other side of the mountains. Bet you can't guess neither of us are Navy QM's

You can follow along as we begin our journey on Sunday, September 2, 2012
